Franken, My Dear . . .

Filed under: Politics — lmwalker @ 10:12 pm

Leaving Obama (a.k.a. One of Us Common Folk) and his fanciful Office-of-the-President-Elect for a moment, let’s turn our attention to the ever-whimpering Al Franken, who lost an election in Minnesota and intends to sue his way into office.

Among Gore, Kerry, Franken, and the like, this is becoming a rather pathetic epidemic. I can only blame the recent academic culture that rewards failure as though it were success, in a misguided attempt to preserve self-image or some such nonsense. Some of our Democrat politicians seem to have lost the concept of withdrawing gracefully and preserving their dignity enough to fight another day.

And returning to Obama for a moment: he, at least, openly weaseled his competition off the ballot pre-emptively, so he was never really in danger of losing anything . . . ever. His strategy seems a lot less humiliating, but I leave it to the individual to discern whether his method of victory is any more valorous.

  1. The very idea of someone using the courts to have every vote properly counted offends me as well! Egads!

I don’t know why the democrats can’t be like Bush and, say, simply have the person in charge of voting in Ohio be your state campaign manager.

One shortage of voting machines in democratic areas and Voila! Nice clean election.
