William F. Buckley Jr. was one of my heroes.

Best of the Web gives him a nice send-off.

  3. I personally love the quote from WFB when he ran for mayor of New York in the 1960’s. Buckley was a huge underdog and ran on a conservative ticket with next to no chance of getting elected. When asked by a debate moderator what his first order of business would be should he be elected mayor, Buckley stated that he would demand a recount. He was a good man who was highly respected by liberals and conservatives alike.
