The more I read the whining defense of Materazzi, the more I sympathize with Zidane.

I’m almost sorry that the French didn’t win.

  1. Uh… except that Italy is the better team and would have won without over time anyway if it weren’t for a bad offsides call in the second half… And, plus, you’ve got to give the Italians credit for actually putting people of Italian descent on their team…

  2. To be fair, there could have been a second penalty in the second half as well, and France did dominate the last 60 minutes of the game.
    On the last comment, I agree. I think the US team should only have white players too. Errr, maybe native american players. Errr, was my comment racist/nationalist, or was yours? Zidane was born in Marseilles to in an Algerian family. Kudos to France for picking the best team. Maybe that’s why they’ve had the most success of any Old World Team in the last 8 years. World Cup champs, runner-up, and Euro Champs.
