George Lucas Lied!

. . . and a good thing too!

The original original Star Wars Trilogy will soon be released on DVD!

In response to overwhelming demand, Lucasfilm Ltd. and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment will release attractively priced individual two-disc releases of Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Each release includes the 2004 digitally remastered version of the movie and, as bonus material, the theatrical edition of the film. That means you’ll be able to enjoy Star Wars as it first appeared in 1977, Empire in 1980, and Jedi in 1983.

This release will only be available for a limited time: from September 12th to December 31st.

(Another hat tip to John Dodd for this joyful news!)

  1. And people say there’s no God….as if this isn’t proof enough 😉

  2. Not to be too negative, but the limited time offer part is total crap. He’s good at getting people to rush out and buy stuff, though. Kinda’ like Disney releases used to be.

  3. Certainly it is a limited time offer. Do you think these movies will be released in the hereafter? =)

  6. This makes me really mad. I found it very distateful to buy the recent DVD release of the original trilogy, but I did it because I knew that the originals would never be available. Now, they pull this BS. I want my money back!!!
