Yet Another Reason for Fox News

CNN has gotten themselves into a bit of a pickle:

In a broadcast this morning, CNN insisted the mysterious “X” that flashed over the face of Vice President Dick Cheney during a televised speech was created by a technical malfunction a “computer bug” and not a human operator . . .

The TVNewser website obtained a statement from CNN spokeswoman Laurie Goldberg, explaining: “Upon seeing this unfortunate but very brief graphic, CNN senior management immediately investigated. We concluded this was a technological malfunction, not an issue of operator error. A portion of the switcher experienced a momentary glitch. We obviously regret that it happened and are working on the equipment to ensure it is not repeated.”

Was it purposeful? Who knows? Michelle Malkin thinks not. Matt Drudge thinks ’tis.

As for me, CNN irritates me enough that I think it’s amusing to see them put on the spot. If any hanky-panky was in the works, I’m sure it can be traced to some juvenile in the control room. I don’t think CNN is part of a vast alphabet-flashing conspiracy. PBS has that one covered.

  1. I can’t believe that CNN would do that to the face of our sitting president.

  2. Hmm, I wonder if this warrants a response. On the one hand, he’s technically wrong. On the other, I might be falling for his bait…. To me, Howard’s statement sums up the problem with our current culture. Respect, of the office [not necessarily the person], doesn’t seem to exist.

  3. I’m sorry. I guessed I should have said “effectively, our sitting president.”
