Condemning Evil, No Matter the Source

Filed under: News — lmwalker @ 2:45 pm

After Isreali army deserter Eden Natan-Zada opened fire on a busload of Palestinians, Prime Minister Ariel Sharon issued a statement:

“This was a reprehensible act by a bloodthirsty Jewish terrorist who sought to attack innocent Israeli citizens. This terrorist event was a deliberate attempt to harm the fabric of relations among all Israeli citizens.

“Terrorism by civilians against civilians is the most dangerous thing affecting the future of the State of Israel and its stability as a democracy. On my behalf and that of the government, I send condolences to the families of those who were murdered and my best wishes for a quick recovery to those who were wounded. The entire State of Israel, regardless of race, religion or sex, strongly condemns this act of terrorism.”

And, most importantly, he followed up his words with actions:

The prime minister on Friday, 5 August 2005, instructed the National Insurance Institute and all related bodies to treat yesterday’s murders in Shfaram as an act of terrorism in every respect and to grant all assistance as provided for by law to the bereaved families and the wounded.

Bravo to Sharon for doing the right thing.

  1. Heh. I hope he stays up on this moral high ground next time he has the change to stop a helicopter gunship from firing rounds into a refugee camp.

  2. Yeah, that mean old Sharon. How dare he fire at terror sponsors once they run into a “refugee camp”! Perhaps the next time Arabs care to fight a war, they won’t do it from behind their own civilians. I wouldn’t bet any real money on that, though.

By the way, while I think that Natan-Zada was a worthless piece of trash (and that’s being kind), I’m not going to hold my breath waiting for the “global community” or any of the usual self-declared “progressives” to protest the on-the-spot lynching he received at the hands of the Arab mob. Apparently, it’s only Arab terrorists that are entitled to a trial at all costs, and only Israelis and Americans that must consider the consequences of escalation.

    Oh well.
