Cubicle Dwellers and Their Diversions

Filed under: Rambles — lmwalker @ 11:24 am

U.S. workers will waste an average of two hours per day:

U.S. workers say they squander over two hours a day at the workplace, with surfing the Web, socializing with co-workers and simply “spacing out” among the top time-wasting activities, according to a survey released on Monday.

I guess I better get back to real work . . .

  1. So how many hours do we squander if we work from home? I wonder if doing laundry would show up on such a study…. of course, any study done by AOL can’t be all that credible (as credible as one done by Canadians). I wonder if Laura’s blog should be added to the list…

  2. This article is an absolute insult – timewasting?! What is such a creature?

I would argue that one cannot ‘waste’ time — any knowledge gained, even if one is merely surfing the web, would (arguably) come into play at some point in one’s life, which could be valuable to an employer. at some point.

Of course, this is an existential argument and would not be measured on a survey.

But, Andrew, an AOL survey might be ‘credible’ and still have no statistical value. The question I would ask is — how accurately does an AOL survey reflect life, or truth, for that matter.

And, as has been noted in a previous comment, never underestimate the power of the Laurablog — of course it should be added to the list……..
